Crane Transfer Safety Seminar II15th September 2008
On September 15th, Reflex Marine Ltd teamed up with the UK HSE and Sparrows Offshore Services to give their second successful seminar on crane transfers and safely moving people offshore.
This year the seminar topics incorporated audience’s ideas from last year’s seminar and touched upon current industry issues such as evacuation options and emergency response and the use of crane transfers in this scenario.
The seminar gave:
- An update on new legislative guidelines by the UK HSE
- A risk management perspective on personnel transfers
- An overview of crane compliance
- A review of common North Sea issues
- Discussions on the role of crane transfers in the role of evacuations/emergency response planning by UK HSE
- First-hand experience on a crane simulator and with a full scale offshore crane

The seminar contained a mixture of both theory and practical demonstration. During the afternoon delegates were invited to Sparrows north-east training facility and were given a first-hand demonstration of Reflex Marine’s Frog capsule as a crane transfer option.
